Hydra probe type II, measuring soil moisture / temperature / salinity
Category:
ADCON
Unlike other soil moisture sensors, the Hydra probe obtains soil moisture by simultaneously measuring the dielectric constant and conductivity. The dielectric constant and conductivity have a great influence on the parameter of soil moisture: the dielectric constant is the most direct indicator of water content, and the conductivity also depends largely on the soil salinity. The unique multi-parameter sensor with a measuring principle has an extremely compact and rugged housing, which can simultaneously measure soil moisture, soil temperature and soil conductivity. Measuring principle
The unique multi-parameter sensor has an extremely compact and rugged housing, which can simultaneously measure soil moisture, soil temperature and soil conductivity.
High-frequency electrical measurements can determine the soil's capacitance and conductivity properties, which are directly related to soil moisture and salinity, while thermistors can determine soil temperature. All three parameters are transmitted through the SDI-12 interface.
The small and precisely set sensing area can accurately measure areas with high soil moisture, such as areas close to the soil surface. The sensor can respond quickly to changes in soil moisture without calibration. The Hydar probe is equipped with a connection cable that can be buried directly to collect data on various soil conditions in a large research area
